Genmaicha, or brown rice green tea, is a Japanese tea blend that consists of green tea leaves and roasted brown rice. It is characterized by a refreshing taste with a hint of savory goodness from brown rice.
For green tea, genmaicha has quite a low amount of caffeine and is safe to be consumed by everyone, including expecting mothers.
Genmaicha is superb to enjoy all year round weather by itself or paired with sweet-savory snacks. I live in a city with a hot climate, so I prefer my tea ice-cold. There is nothing better than unwinding with a cold glass of tea after a busy day.
Here’s a simple way to brew iced Genmaicha.
How to Make Genmaicha Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 2-3g tsp Genmaicha (0.07-0.1oz)
- 60 ml Hot water at 90°C or 194°F (2 fl oz)
