Umeboshi Recipe: Dipping Sauce with Sesame Oil

Umeboshi is Japanese pickled plum. The traditional umeboshi is not salt reduced, only pickled with salt and shiso leaves, but not with additional seasonings or sweeteners. It is said to be an alkaline food with plenty of health benefits.

Japanese usually eat umeboshi as a side dish with the other recipes. They will eat it together with a set of warm rice, vegetable, meat, fish, or other protein sources.

This time, we will share a recipe for umeboshi beginners. Umeboshi Dipping Sauce with Sesame Oil is easy to make and delicious even for those who want to try umeboshi for the first time. The sesame oil will hold umeboshi’s strong and sour taste and give it more fragrant.
