What is Tofu?

Tofu is a famous and representative Asian cuisine. It was known as plant based protein as it was made from soybean curds and most importantly, vegan-friendly!

Tofu is also an easy item to get in almost every supermarket, and fortunately the price of a tofu is pretty affordable compare to other products that are rich in protein. Of course, if you’re interested in making your own tofu at home, there is also a way to do it and it’s not that complicated!

Recipe for Baked Tofu

Baked Tofu

Baked tofu is a simple, crispy, and easy-to-make healthy snack with amazing and authentic taste from tofu. It doesn’t require much oil because it is baked. Medium firm to firm tofu is recommended for this recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g Medium to firm tofu, cubed
  • 1 tsp Extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce (seasoning)
  • ½ tsp Garlic powder (seasoning)
  • ½ tsp Black pepper powder (seasoning)
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce (seasoning, optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400ºF or 200ºC.
  • Add tofu cubes, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper powder into a bowl. Mix until combined and let it marinated for at least 5 minutes.
  • Drain the tofu and add cornstarch to coat. If you want your tofu cubes super crispy, you can add more cornstarch up to 5-6 tbsp.
  • Place the tofu cubes onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Flip each tofu cubes so they can cooked evenly and bake for another 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Enjoy!
