Ginger Lemon Green Tea

Besides brewing green tea as it is, there are a lot more variations you can try to enjoy green tea as a drink. You can make it ice tea, or even warm tea. With additional ingredients, you can add more nutrition to your green tea drink, such as fruit, ginger, lemon, etc.

Green tea itself is processed from the plant Camellia sinensis. To make green tea, the freshly harvested leaves are immediately steamed at high temperatures and dried. This steam allows the leaves to maintain their green color, which contains catechins with many health benefits, during the rolling and drying processes.

Researchers found that the consumption of green tea has the most significant effect on human health compared to other forms of tea processed from the same plant. Catechins contained in green tea are believed to have so many health benefits.

In this recipe, we would like to add more ingredients into our green tea that can even give you more health benefits; Lemon and Ginger.

Lemon Ginger Green Tea

Lemon is well known for its vitamin C content, while ginger is known for its antioxidants. These two ingredients are perfect to combine with green tea which also has many health benefits. This drink is refreshing that it is great to enjoy hot or cold, and it is good for your daily detox drink.

Servings 1 Cup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 packet green tea (Also Read Notes)
  • ½ inch grated ginger
  • teaspoon honey (optional if you would like a sweet hint in your green tea)
  • ¼ lemon (juiced)

Instructions
 

  • Boil and bring the water to simmer. Add a green tea bag and steep for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add ginger and lemon juice.
  • Remove tea bag. Add honey (optional) when the tea is not too hot anymore.
  • Your Lemon Ginger Green Tea is ready to enjoy!

Notes

* This recipe is more suitable for hot or warm tea. But it is not possible if you want to consume it as an iced drink. Wait until it cools down to room temperature, then add ice cubes.
* If you use powdered green tea, just dissolve the green tea powder with simmered water. You can use 1 teaspoon of the powder for 100cc of water, or you can add more if you’d prefer a more intense taste.
