Refreshing Passion Fruit Green Tea

Besides brewing green tea as it is, there are a lot more variations you can try to enjoy green tea as a drink. Adding fruits, especially tropical fruit to your green tea, and enjoying it as iced tea doesn’t only give you health benefits, but also a really refreshing way to enjoy it, and helps you to cool down the summer.

Green tea itself is processed from the plant Camellia sinensis. To make green tea, the freshly harvested leaves are immediately steamed at high temperatures and dried. This steam allows the leaves to maintain their green color, which contains catechins with many health benefits, during the rolling and drying processes.

Iced Passion Fruit Green Tea Recipe

Researchers found that the consumption of green tea has the most significant effect on human health compared to other forms of tea processed from the same plant. Catechins contained in green tea are believed to have so many health benefits.

In this recipe, we would like to add a tropical fruit ingredient into our green tea; Passion Fruit. Passion Fruit is one of the popular tropical fruit that can bring a bit of the sunny tropics to your iced green tea easily and deliciously. Not only refreshing, passion fruit is also rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber.

Iced Passion fruit Green Tea

The refreshing combination of Green Tea and Passion Fruit. Both are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. The acidic taste of passion fruit brings even more refreshing taste to the tea.

Ingredients
  

  • 450 ml water
  • 2 teabags green tea
  • 2 tbsp honey (can be adjusted to your preference)
  • 3 Passion Fruits
  • Ice cubes (to your preference)

Instructions
 

  • Bring half of the water to boil, then remove it from the heat. Add the green tea bags. Let it steep for 5 minutes. The longer you keep it, the darker it will get.
  • Let the green tea cool down to room temperature, remove the teabags, then add honey and stir well.
  • Transfer the green tea to a jug, then pour in the remaining half of the water, it is better cold from the fridge to speed up the cooling time. Refrigerate at least for 10 minutes
  • Keep a sieve ready with a bowl under the sieve to collect the fruit pulp with the seeds. Take out the fruit pulp form the passion fruit shell with a spoon into the sieve.
  • With a spoon press the fruit pulp through the sieve so that the seeds are separated from the pulp. Discard the seeds and collect the pulp in the bowl.
  • Add passion fruits pulp into the cool green tea jug.
  • Serve passion fruit green tea with ice cubes.

Notes

* If you use powdered green tea, dissolve 1 teaspoon of green tea powder for every 100cc of water. Or adjust to your preference if you want a more or less intense taste.
